Construction Services: Roads, Bridges and Highways
Binnie provides civil engineering construction services for roads and highways in Western Canada.
We work with the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, municipalities across the province, and numerous public and private sector organizations on infrastructure maintenance and development. Effective road and highways construction engineering and management are essential for successful infrastructure project completion: we are experienced engineers and technologists and are recognized for the quality of our project solutions.
In addition to civil engineering construction projects, we provide services in transportation engineering and planning; municipal services; stormwater management; traffic planning; landscape architecture; Geomatics; land development; parks, sports and recreation facilities; project services; and legal survey. We manage all of our projects from the perspective of environmental impact and sustainability – leading in the engineering of effective infrastructure solutions.
We have the talent and the experience to provide project management for road and highway projects. The types of projects we work on vary widely: reconstruction, repairing, widening, moving roads, planning drainage and/or stormwater systems, new roads, interchanges, overpasses, and/or bridge approaches.
Our civil engineering construction services team has been providing engineering solutions since 1969. We have an excellent reputation for producing quality work, having talented and experienced staff, and having a clear commitment to delivering on client expectations.
Challenging projects are our specialty: we engineer solutions for those challenges.
For example, on Highway 97, between Chetwynd and Prince George, BC, we were involved in the reconstruction and widening of 11.2 kilometres of the existing highway, and added 2.1 kilometres of new road. The project challenge was to overcome existing sub-standard horizontal alignments; and involved bridge (two major and two minor bridges crossing the Pine River) and grade construction in a difficult location. The construction included type A and D excavation, blasting, embankment fills, granular fills and EPS paving.
Our supervision of civil engineering construction projects includes activities such as:
- Budget Reporting and Cost Management
- Quantity Tracking
- Day Labour Supervision
- Schedule Management
- Quality Management and Quality Assurance Inspection
- Safety Management
- Traffic Management
- Coordination with Utility Companies
- Interaction, Liaising and Coordination of Stakeholders
