Binnie Named a Top Employer for Young People for Third Year
January 10, 2017
For the third year in a row, Binnie has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.
Now in its 16th year, Canada’s Top Employers for Young People recognizes the employers that offer the nation’s best workplaces and programs for people just starting their careers. The employers on this list are Canada’s leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations.
Each employer is evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in terms of the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. The competition reviews a variety of programs that are important to young Canadians, including:
- co-op or work-study opportunities
- school partnerships
- education tuition subsidies
- internal networking groups for young professionals
- in-house training and mentorship
- career advancement opportunities
- competitive salaries and benefits
Erica’s Path to Binnie
Erica (pictured above) started at Binnie as a summer job while she worked through the Civil Engineering Technology program at BCIT. She returned again working part-time for a semester. After graduating with her Diploma in Civil Engineering, Erica was hired at another firm and quickly got busy in full-time work. Months later, she ran into a Binnie employee at an industry social and caught up on what was happening at Binnie.
Erica is now part of Binnie’s busy Development & Infrastructure Division and is working towards becoming an Applied Science Technologist.
My favorite thing about working at Binnie is the people. I work in an open office atmosphere where there is a lot of support. There is always someone to talk to or answer a question. We are quiet and hard at work most of the time. It’s nice to have people around me working hard, it makes it easier for me to work hard.
