From 2015 to 2019, Binnie was the civil designer for the Imperial development in the Metrotown Town Centre. The project required offsite improvements along three frontages including Imperial Street, complete with services including water, sanitary, storm, main upgrades including water and sanitary, linear/bulge RMAs, and road upgrades.
This project included early installations of the East Jordan self-levelling style manhole lids on arterial roads in the City. This project included many features from the Town Centre Standards, including hardscaping details like clay brick boulevards on Imperial, clay brick separation between a cycle track and pedestrian sidewalk on Dunblane and Marlborough, and the granite setts rumble strips along the Rainwater Management Amenities, which included linear style along a primary arterial road and also in the curb bulges on the local roads. The cycle track also included the bike ramps specified at local and arterial intersections.
