Gabriel Silveira, MBA, Inspector

Can you tell us a little about your journey in engineering and what inspired you to pursue this field?

Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by building structures. I remember constructing roads, tunnels, and houses for my toys, but at that time, I didn’t realize that engineers design and construct these structures in real life. My parents played a significant role in my decision to pursue engineering by supporting my professional passion.

During my Bachelor of Engineering, I had the opportunity to work on the contractor side of a major heavy transportation project that involved building bridges, viaducts, and drainage systems. This experience was pivotal in shaping my educational and career goals. Each experience has reinforced my belief in the critical role that well-designed infrastructure plays in improving quality of life and supporting economic growth.

What do you love the most about working for Binnie?

Binnie offers a collaborative environment, engaging projects, and the chance to make a real difference in communities through infrastructure development. They trust in my ability to contribute by implementing innovative solutions to streamline processes and enhance our services.

What is one piece of advice you would share with someone who is interested in pursuing engineering as a career?

Pursue internships and practical experiences, as they provide invaluable insights beyond textbooks. Stay resilient, patient, and true to your passion. Work for a company that values and respects you as an individual, not just as a resource.
