On September 15, the Ladner Business Association and the Corporation of Delta partnered up to host a celebration for the improvements to Arthur Drive in Ladner, British Columbia. The event showcased and promoted local retailers, and brought greater awareness to the Ladner Village area.
This event was not just a celebration of the improvements to Arthur Drive, but of the neighbourhoods and the community that it serves. The mayor was there to engage with the community and talk about the improvements and their benefits for Delta. Arthur Drive now has an expanded bike lane that winds through the scenic corn fields, stately homes, and historic houses of Ladner to Tsawwassen. Entertainment included a performance by funk band Soulstream, who played in the street for an all-ages dance. We are excited to have helped foster community participation and pride by sponsoring a children’s entertainer at the main stage.
The Corporation of Delta enlisted Binnie to provide engineering design and construction management services for roadway and utility improvements along 3.6 kilometres of Arthur Drive in Ladner. This stretch is part of the main route connecting Ladner and Tsawwassen. This was one of several initiatives in their Neighbourhood Road Improvement Program. Binnie was involved in the addition of street lighting, bike lanes, pavement rehabilitation, sidewalk with grassed boulevard strips, rain gardens, street trees and plantings, patterned/textured pavement, improved signage, and public engagement.
We are proud to continue participating in the improvements to this community.
