As part of the Roberts Bank Rail Corridor Program, this project eliminates the existing at-grade rail crossing, and facilitates planned future expansion of the railway servicing the port at Roberts Bank. Project included a new overpass structure over Deltaport Way and the BC Rail corridor, a new signalized T-intersection at Deltaport Way, watermain relocation, and a temporary detour route through the project site during construction.
Binnie originally prepared a conceptual design for the overpass project for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Binnie was later retained as a sub-consultant to Klohn Crippen Berger to prepare a detailed design. Binnie provided survey, highway engineering and detailed design for the relocation of utilities.
Binnie was also responsible for traffic engineering including signal timing design for the temporary signal which included railway pre-emption as well as the ultimate signal with no railway pre-emption.
