Grandin Park Plaza Transportation Review – St. Albert

Grandin Park in St. Albert is a multi-family, multi-lot development. The Master Plan and Phase 1 detailed design were completed by others, but the City and developer found the civil road designs to be unsuitable.

As a result, in 2018, Amacon, the lot developer, retained Binnie to complete a peer review of the proposed road geometrics and make recommendations to the design team to help them complete the detailed design for the project in 2018.

The work included a geometric and grading review of the proposed local road and existing arterial roads fronting the site. Binnie performed a transportation review of the proposed development designs as well as reviewed the traffic patterns of the proposed road network and roadway designs. Based on the review findings, recommendations were provided to improve the functionality of the proposed development and implementation.

After implementation, the functionality of the plaza was improved by improving mobility for all modes and reducing vehicle congestion.
