In 2019, Highline Mushroom Development was in need of essential site services to support the occupancy and operations of their facility located in Rock View County. As a result, the Highline Mushroom Development team retained Binnie to provide project management and civil design services to support their development project.
As the Project Management and Design Consultant, Binnie began by providing a topographical survey. It expanded to design, then to construction management. Services included site grading, earthwork balance, stormwater management report, overland drainage, traffic impact assessment (TIA), road design, landscape architecture and storm pond design.
This particular site had uneven and deep organic soils, due to storing the mushroom byproducts. Extra work was required to map organic soil depths and balance earthworks. Binnie staff coordinated and calculated the survey layout of piles.
Additionally, Binnie project managers proactively worked through delays in receiving approvals from Alberta Environment & Parks for the storm pond registration, which in turn affected the ability of the owners to receive Occupancy from Rocky View County.
In the end, managing the stormwater ensured that the site development did not cause any adjacent or property owner’s drainage issues downstream.
