With tennis becoming more popular in Canmore and approved grant funding in place, Binnie was retained to provide landscape architecture services to the Town of Canmore for the Tennis Court Renewal and Expansion Project in Lions Park, from 2017 to 2018.
Our work started at the conceptual design phase with the Town and involved understanding, analyzing, and synthesizing all available background information and reports. Subsequently, Binnie staff conducted a site visit with the Town to gain a detailed understanding of the site, opportunities, and constraints.
During the preliminary design phase, and based on the collected information, we developed the court design with flexible expansion options that allow expansion from 3 to 5 courts, along with associated amenities required by the Town. This included a preliminary cost estimate itemizing the tennis courts’ elements.
Binnie was responsible for the concept design, graphic rendering for the park, and stakeholder consultation associated with expansion of the Lions Park tennis courts. The conceptual design was originally initialized to include multiple expansion options for tennis players to utilize and meet the increasing demand of tennis park users during the weekends and evenings.
