Retained by the Township of Langley to upgrade McLeod Athletic Park, Binnie was responsible for the planning, design, and construction oversight of the substantial upgrades in preparation for the 2022 and 2023 Canadian Track and Field Championships. Upgrades for the facility included full renovation for the track surfacing, expanded high jump and long jump areas, new four-lane 60 m warm up track, and event hosting upgrades including a new 125 stall parking lot.
Destined to be a nationally regarded sports hosting facility, Binnie worked with the Township, Langley School District, and the Track Club to make sure all users were considered. Additional design detailing was undertaken to meet full accessibility standards for both athletes and spectators alike, including designing the parking lot grading for use as a para-athlete warm up area with barriers in place.
