The Vancouver Port Authority commissioned a significant expansion of the Deltaport Container Terminal to meet the rising demand for additional container storage for the growing containerized cargo market.
Binnie (Omni Engineering Inc.) provided detailed design and construction management for water, storm drainage and sewer services at the site. Tasks included the installation of storm main and oil/water separators for stormwater discharge to the marine environment; relocation of on-site water connections, including a provision for proper flow for fire suppression; and relocating the existing Westshore Coal Terminal Access Road and Entrance gate.
The design incorporated provisional connections from the original Pod 4 site for storm drainage overflow and water. It required tie-ins to pre-installed carrier mains beneath the new rail tracks surrounding the Terminal.
