In 2019, the City of Port Coquitlam retained Binnie to complete a needs assessment of outdoor grass and artificial sports fields supporting local field sport groups including soccer, ball, lacrosse, field hockey, and football. The assessment will guide the planning, and redevelopment of existing track and field sport facilities in Port Coquitlam to 2031. Binnie coordinated assessment of current conditions and reviewed usage data, service levels, population growth and demographics, and trends and practices to develop recommendations to improve current programming needs and meet future demands. Binnie worked closely with city staff to generate the 10-year implementation plan that included recommendations based on stakeholder feedback and research and analysis findings that maximizes the use of existing inventory, prioritizes infrastructure improvements, revises the field allocation system, and prioritizes capital investments to address future servicing needs.
