Binnie has been a key member of the project team since 2004, providing civil engineering services to assist with the redevelopment of the 82-acre property, referred to as the Village at Fraser Mills. Works have included participation in the public consultation process, planning and development of servicing, grading, phasing and providing stormwater management concepts to incorporate the Neighborhood Plan and Design Guidelines.
Significant coordination with the City of Coquitlam, Kiewit-Flatiron and TI Corporation was required for the intersection work at King Edward and United Boulevard. Binnie developed the straight alignment concept for the new King Edward Overpass and demonstrated to the city how the construction could be staged to reduce closures to keep within a limited window. The concept was subsequently used by the city and province in their negotiations with Kiewit-Flatiron and the straight alignment was constructed.
Binnie was then further retained by the developer to provide detailed design and construction support services for the subdivision process for Phase 1 West.
