Trans Mountain Energy Pipeline Traffic Management Services

From 2019 to 2021, Binnie provided traffic management services for Spread 1 in Edmonton, Spread 4B in Clearwater, and Spread 6 in the Fraser Valley of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP). Trans Mountain and the governing agencies required these traffic management plans and traffic control plan drawings in order to reduce the impact on the travelling public passing through the construction sites.

Binnie worked with several contractors on each spread and worked closely with Trans Mountain staff to ensure the traffic management meets the requirements of the project and is consistent with other spreads. As part of the scope of work, Binnie prepared Traffic Management Plan reports for each spread, based on the requirements from Trans Mountain, the provinces, and the local municipalities. In addition, Binnie prepared numerous Traffic Control Plan drawings for the spreads to detail the traffic control to be implemented by the contractor during construction.

These plans will improve the safety of both the travelling public and the construction crew. Binnie worked closely with the contractor to meet the tight timelines required for the various deliverables to keep the project on schedule. All deliverables were signed and sealed by our Engineer of Record.

As of 2021, construction is ongoing and some of the plans have already been implemented.
