On Thursday, November 2, Binnie staff attended the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards. The Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) hosted the event to honour local business and their achievements.

Binnie was honoured to win the award for Healthy Workplace. The BBOT bases this accomplishment  on being a

“business that has recognized the value of employee health and wellness and created a workplace and culture which supports employees in their efforts to achieve work-life balance and to maintain and improve their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.”

Our President, Michael Richardson, P.Eng., accepted the award on behalf of the company. See what he had to say about us here:

Binnie Benefits

Our benefits package includes health spending accounts, an employee and family assistance program, EI top-up for maternity, parental, compassionate care, and illness/injury leaves. On top of that, we offer flexible hours and work arrangements, and support employees maintaining work/life balance.

Binnie provides employees with a yearly fitness allowance of $150. Everyone is encouraged to use the allowance for taking exercise classes, purchasing activewear, sports team fees, or buying gear and equipment for physical activities. We also offer resources for getting confidential support with emotional and mental well-being. Other programs include our extended benefits, transit benefit, and flexible hours.

Company Culture

Our vision is to support the growth of our clients and our communities by providing the most effective engineering infrastructure solutions. To achieve that vision, we invest in the best resources and talent – our people. Staff at Binnie recognize that our culture promotes continued education and career development. There is a strong sense of team, where supervisors have open doors and are always willing to help. We are the people behind the infrastructure you use every day. We’re small enough to know each other’s names, and big enough to be where we’re needed.

I am honoured to have received this award on Binnie’s behalf – it shows that we have been serious about developing a healthy work life and a true work-life balance. – Michael Richardson
