Binnie was a proud sponsor of the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games as a Community Champion. Special Olympics BC is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sport. The 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games were hosted in Kamloops from Feb 2nd to 4th, marking the fifth time Canada’s Tournament Capital has hosted Provincial Games for B.C. and Yukon athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Our local attendees included Paul Rae, our Manager in Kamloops and Greg Jones, our local Project Manager, who attended on Binnie’s behalf (as seen in the photos above).
Through the power and joy of sports, athletes with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths, skills, and success. They also inspire their communities to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
By the numbers, Special Olympics BC involves:
- 500+ athletes with intellectual disabilities
- Eight SOBC winter sports
- 100+ volunteer coaches and mission staff
- More than 800 volunteers
