We are pleased to announce our second top employers award for 2015. Binnie has been selected as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers. This is an exciting achievement for our organization that we take pride in celebrating.
The Top Small & Medium Employers contest is a specialty category of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, run by MediaCorp. Binnie has been selected as one of the best 100 small to medium companies to work for across Canada. The competition is limited to private-sector companies with under 500 employees and focuses on recognizing small and medium employers with progressive workplace benefits and forward-thinking HR policies. Following our BC’s Top Employers achievement announced in January, this award is further recognition of our employee-friendly policies and programs at Binnie.
The following are key points that caught the judges’ attention during the competition:
- Binnie encourages employees to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date with tuition subsidies for courses related to their position as well as a variety of in-house and online training programs
- Binnie is an enlightened smaller employer that provides new mothers with maternity top-up payments (to 90% of salary for 17 weeks) as well as a short parental leave top-up for fathers and adoptive parents (to 90% for 2 weeks)
- Binnie employees share in the fruits of their labours through a profit sharing program and are encouraged to save for the future with employer RRSP contributions
- Binnie helps employees balance their work and personal lives with flexible work hours, shortened and compressed work weeks and telecommuting options — also has dedicated workstations for off-site employees
