The City of Burnaby selected our landscape architecture team to provide conceptual and detailed trail designs for the 3.9-kilometre perimeter trail for Central Park, a City-wide destination for sport, recreation, and leisure activities. The trail offers visitors a new, accessible way to explore the park’s amenities and recreation spaces
Our multi-use design nurtures a welcoming trail experience for all users and provides dynamic pedestrian nodes for entry into Central Park’s internal trail network. The trail includes a low-impact rubber surface that reduces disturbance around significant existing trees, increasing tree preservation for the high-profile urban forest. The material also reduces impact and strain for joggers and walkers using the trail.
Comprising three phases, the trail’s first phase was completed in 2017 and the second phase was completed at the end of Summer 2019.
