The City of Abbotsford retained Binnie to provide engineering and construction services for the widening of McCallum Road, a high-traffic corridor in the rapidly growing City. The project area extends 1,020 metres from Marshall Road to South Fraser Way.
The work scope involved a new five-lane road with sidewalks on both sides, replacement of an 830 m long AC water main, upsizing of an existing 450mm diameter sanitary sewer main, and undergrounding of BC Hydro cables, and installation of new streetlights.
Binnie prepared preliminary design drawings of the McCallum Road corridor improvements, coordinated with utility agencies, and prepared presentation drawings for stakeholders. Further, Binnie coordinated with TransLink for new bus stop locations along the corridor.
