Binnie attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology awards ceremony along with graduating students, BCIT representatives, and honourary guest, well-known journalist Bill Good.

Binnie’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, James Martens, presented the Robert Binnie Memorial Award to Jacob DeVos (pictured). Jacob graduated from the civil engineering degree program and has taken a position with a local structural engineering firm.

Binnie established the Robert Binnie Memorial Award in 1994 in memory of founder, Robert F. Binnie. While initially Binnie made annual donations in various amounts, in 2005 Binnie set up a permanent endowment fund, which generates an annual award of approximately $1,000. This year marks the 10th time Binnie has presented the award to graduates of BCIT.

Notably, new Binnie employee, Alyssa Hermann, received one of the highest honours that evening – the Dean’s Award for Diploma, Civil Engineering. She also received the Civil Engineering ASTTBC Award, and was the valedictorian for the 2015 graduating class.
