Foothills Athletic Park is an important civic community and regional athletic facility near the University of Calgary that includes soccer pitches, an athletic track, and baseball stadium. The aging 400 m athletic track—which includes long jump pits, pole vault, discus, javelin, and shotput areas—is nearing its life cycle. Its deteriorating conditions have become a challenge for athletes and facility staff to operate and maintain.
Binnie is working with The City of Calgary and leading preliminary design to revitalize the track at Foothills Athletic Park. We are proposing designs that will meet the specific requirements needed for World Athletics certification while maximizing investment for long-lasting facility improvements. The scope includes completing a thorough review and assessment of the existing track conditions and its substrate, exploring design of a new warm-up track, delivering concept/schematic/ detailed designs, tender, and construction support.
